I'm someone who's undergone a complete life/self overhaul. I'm now a professional in my dream job, balancing an amazing relationship, a healthy body, a healthy self image, my passions, my family and surrounding myself with good people. It's hard, not gonna lie. But I'm here to help, to inspire and say "you're not alone."

Me, today. 4.19.12. Weightgain – not your fault?

I got re-fired up after reading a post and hopefully this will open some eyes. There is hidden sugar in most of our foods, causing a SUGAR ADDICTION and WEIGHT GAIN! So it’s not your fault that you’re gaining weight – kind of. Hooooo boy, I can go on forever about this. Get ready for an eyeful of info! I’ll keep it short.
The reason why there is so much sugar in our foods is because of the “low fat” phenomenon. That’s right ladies, “low fat” products can (and most are) worse for you than full fat products (in other words foods that have all the natural fat)!

Chemists and manufacturers started producing everything with less fat plastering it all over their packaging and guess what, it worked. Sales skyrocketed. Because of this low fat altering, the foods tasted like baby poo rolled in kitty litter. To make them taste good, chemists then found that sugar did the trick and had the added benefit of addiction. Cha ching! More sales.

Sucrose: a disaccharide of glucose (left) and ...

To lower the ridonculous amounts of sugar, artificial sweeteners and high fructose corn syrup were then used. Then to make the consistency feel like the original food, preservatives, gums, artificial coloring etc are used… so on and so forth until our food is not really food anymore, but a cocktail of chemicals. Basically it’s the reason why this country is so fat is because of the low fat notion.
The fake chemicals can’t get processed.

Simple solution to LOOSE WEIGHT and BE HEALTHY is to cut out processed foods! And now you know why.

And oh by the way, do you feel like you do a BUHzillion ab exercises, squats and kettle bell the hell out of yourself yet the belly never goes away and you don’t see much more tone? Wellll guess what all that fake food is doing to your system? Wrecking havoc and is staying in your body. I’m not saying it is the sole reason of why you can’t loose weight or tone, but it’s for damn sure a contribution.

Ladies, this is part of being efficient with your time! Imagine if you could cut your workout in half or only do it a few days a week and still loose weight! This is a good first step in that achievement.

I am a sugar addict. After almost every meal or when I’m in a down mood, I get intense cravings for sugar and sometimes if I don’t have it I get irritable, a headache, and sometimes even depressed–all symptoms a drug addict encounters upon withdrawal. Did you know sugar sets off the same addictive chemicals in your brain as any other addictive drug such as cocaine or heroin? Sugar is in so much of the food we consume, sometimes without even realizing it’s there, thus causing an addiction to a drug that you may not have necessarily wanted to start taking in the first place! Here are just a few terrifying facts about sugar that still may not be enough to keep sugarholics such as myself away from this sweet, yet deadly drug. Time to find a sugarholics anonymous meeting.
