I'm someone who's undergone a complete life/self overhaul. I'm now a professional in my dream job, balancing an amazing relationship, a healthy body, a healthy self image, my passions, my family and surrounding myself with good people. It's hard, not gonna lie. But I'm here to help, to inspire and say "you're not alone."

Me, today. 5.18.12. Leading by Example

After a long work week, I set my hair in curlers, brushed on eyeshadow and slipped into a silky dress for a mock prom. Dinner and dancing was hosted by a 20 year old that wanted to give his break dance crew of 30+ kids ages 7-18 a free dress up and dance event. He would pause periodically to give thanks to the chaperoning parents, the free hosted place and to these kids choosing to be here, sober, drug free and sharing love for each other through dance. When rounding people up and shuttling around got frustrating, he never showed it. Only more please and thank yous followed by smiles. You could feel and see how much each of the kids looked up to him, listened to and respected him. He was the best example I have seen in a long time of leading by example. Every time I feel the frustration creep up, I will think of him, think to lead by example.

When life gets frustrating, look to someone you admire who leads with patience and understanding. These are the people to surround yourself with and be influenced by.
