I'm someone who's undergone a complete life/self overhaul. I'm now a professional in my dream job, balancing an amazing relationship, a healthy body, a healthy self image, my passions, my family and surrounding myself with good people. It's hard, not gonna lie. But I'm here to help, to inspire and say "you're not alone."

Me, today. 6.2.12. Laugh at Yourself

Today was a greatly silly, funtastic day. Breakfast and a chalk art festival where bright neon colors were drawn into beautiful art on the main streets of downtown followed by a black light game of glow in the dark mini golf. Now, it’s hard to be serious playing a game where the object is to hit a ball between a smiling monkey’s legs, but a group Imageahead of us were. One man in particular was getting frustrated that his putts were taking more strokes that others. But by focusing on how many strokes he was whiffing, he lost sight of the whole point – a group outing with friends to laugh and have fun.

Too often we get caught in taking ourselves too seriously – not wanting to look unskilled or foolish. There is a big difference between being serious about something and taking yourself too seriously. The first involves focus and growing your skill, the second places your self worth and value in how much skill you have. Being serious is necessary from time to time, but taking yourself too seriously most often hinders more than it helps, causing you to loose sight of the big picture. Let goof your pride as association of self worth with skill. Don’t be afraid to look like a fool. If you’re laughing at yourself, then nothing can never hurt.
